AFICIONADO (c, 2, Into Mischief–Classy Citizen, by Proud Citizen) checked in third on debut sprinting over the Indiana main track Aug. 3 and was second next out when switched to the turf and extended to a mile at Kentucky Downs Sept. 8. Given a 3-1 chance this time, the bay kept close tabs on the leader from third through a first half in :48.81. Making his move in early stretch, he struck the front with a sixteenth run and just held off late-running longshot Midnight Jostar (Midnight Lute) to win by a neck. The winner=s dam Classy Citizen is a half-sister to SW & GISP Sea Queen (Lemon Drop Kid) and GISW Nereid (Rock Hard Ten), who is the dam of SW & GSP Figarella=s Queen (Medaglia d=Oro).
